Tucked away in the peaceful courtyard of a building, against the backdrop of lush mountains, this space embodies the Buddhist concept of 'Anicca'—the impermanence of life.
Here, visitors engage in a meaningful conversation with two sculptures, "Unity" and "Change," each representing life's inherent choices. Custom partitions lead to a symbolic fork in the road, where a high-backed bench not only splits the path but also symbolizes life's distractions; the passing of others momentarily obstructs the view, serving as a powerful reminder to persevere through interruptions. Beyond, large windows provide a view of a distant, heavenly path, encouraging deeper reflection.
Bathed in serene light, this sanctuary prompts profound reflection on our interconnectedness, offering a space of contemplation for those seeking to understand life's continuous journey.

SCULPTING SERENITY: NOGUCHI-INSPIRED
This project, inspired by Isamu Noguchi, blends the organic with the abstract, addressing themes of permanence and change. Contrasting sculptures—one enclosed symbolizing introspection, the other open to the elements reflecting nature’s transformations—use materials like wood and basalt to echo Noguchi’s blend of the natural and the crafted.
The design uses triangles locked together to show how life is stable yet always changing. This idea is inspired by how Noguchi mixed solid shapes with moving parts in his art, showing our search for calmness and understanding in a constantly shifting world. The sculptures show us that even when things feel fixed and secure, change and growth are always possible.
The "change" sculpture is open to the elements, under a skylight, showing how things always keep changing, just like the weather and seasons do. It's a reminder that nothing stays the same forever. On the other hand, the "unity" sculpture is inside, symbolizing how some things, like the connections we have with others, remain strong and steady despite the changes around us. It's about finding a calm and balanced space inside ourselves, no matter what's happening outside.
